Over the last year, and especially the last month, there has been much financial turmoil in the UK. With the announcement of the ‘mini-budget’ and the frequent U-turns of set policies; the economy has been very unsettled.

With the energy crisis still continuing, with unit rates being as high as £0.70 per kilowatt, many companies are focusing on their energy usage and how to become more energy efficient, and at Bowles and Walker Ltd, we are also doing the same.

In 2019 we had a consultation with Rehook, manufacturer of the Dragons Den funded bicycle product line. They described some issues with the supply of products from their current moulder. Bowles and Walker Ltd were able to assure them we could provide a reliable service, offering our tooling and moulding expertise, compressed lead times and our ability to be flexible with orders.

Bowles and Walker Ltd, a plastic injection moulding company, moved to our Watton site from East Harling in 2002 with 5 machines and a working capacity of 25T to 80T. 20 years on, and we have grown in to the company we are today, running 15 machines with a capacity of 25T to 400T.

Bowles and Walker Ltd have counted themselves as being truly lucky over the last couple of years. We have not had to shut down plastic injection moulding activities due to the pandemic, and having procedures in place that have protected our staff throughout.

As part of Bowles and Walker Ltds ongoing sustainability plan we started a new photovoltaics initiative in 2021. Our aim is to become carbon neutral by 2040. We have now concluded the first phase of our new program, completing a massive 244% increase to our photovoltaic systems. This has brought our photovoltaics from a 33KW system to a 113.6KW system.

Towards the end of 2021, Bowles and Walker Ltd applied for the New Anglia – Community Renewal Fund “Road to Net Zero” to aid in its plastic injection moulding operations. The grant was to support Bowles and Walker Ltd in its energy efficiency projects.
